Robotics pioneer Marc Raibert founded Boston Dynamics in 1992 as a spinoff from MIT. The company creates some of the world’s most advanced two-legged and four-legged bots, capable of moving and functioning in unstructured environments. Raibert was a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at MIT and a member of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory from 1986 to 1995. Before that he taught at Carnegie Mellon, where he founded the Leg Lab to establish the scientific basis for robotic locomotion. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
