Katrina Heron was Editor-in-Chief of WIRED from 1998 to 2001. She joined the magazine in 1995, when it was still independently owned, and led its transition into the Condé Nast fold, while increasing readership to then record levels. Katrina had previously been an editor at The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and The New Yorker. She has contributed articles to many publications, including the Times, Vogue and GQ, and co-founded the online news sites Civil Eats and the Food and Environment Reporting Network. She is a longtime advocate of sustainable food and agriculture, with a focus on social justice and children, and served for five years as Executive Director of The Edible Schoolyard Project, a national nonprofit based in Berkeley, CA.
